History of Home Insurance

It all began in the United States in the form of fire insurance that began in Charles Town, now popularly known as Charleston, South Carolina. That soon was supported by Benjamin Franklin to standardize the practice of insurance, particularly against fire due to the same fate. In 1972, he built the Philadelphia Contributorship for the Insurance of Houses from Loss of fire. After the success of Franklins company, other insurance companies bloomed as well.
